WebSphere Application Server Metrics

New workspaces in Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) and the enhanced 3270UI provide Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) data to help you monitor the overall health of the WebSphere Application Server environment. These metrics include:

  • Web application statistics
  • Java EE Connector Architecture (JCA) connection pool statistics
  • Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) statistics
  • Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) connection pool statistics
  • Thread pool statistics
  • Web services statistics

Using these metrics, users can verify response times for critical web applications, EJBs and web services; identify bottlenecks and errors in critical application infrastructure. Product-provided situations can be easily tailored to generate alerts at the first sign of trouble. And history workspaces give a perspective of any changes in application performance over time.

A couple of examples of new workspaces:

With this fix pack, new workspaces are provided for the TEP and the enhanced 3270UI to show a summary of APIs that were executed across the enterprise. Customers using z/OS Connect with the same APIs deployed on multiple servers may now see the aggregate response times and service times for an API across all the servers they execute on. Custom groups can also be created for specific API names, servers, and LPARs for reporting purposes using the TEP or the enhanced 3270UI.
