Enhancements to the deployment and management of the Z Data Analytics Platform and the common services

Major enhancements are made in this release to simplify the deployment and management of the key components in Z Operational Log and Data Analytics.

  • Common services as shared services
Container-based components for Z Anomaly Analytics with Watson and Z Operational Log and Data Analytics can now share key components, simplifying deployment and management, reducing overall hardware requirements, and eliminating potential port conflicts.
  • Consolidated deployment and management tools
The scripts for deploying and managing the Z Data Analytics Platform are now merged into the OCI container deployment and management scripts that have been in use for Z Anomaly Analytics with Watson. This enhancement provides the ability to manage Z Operational Log and Data Analytics and Z Anomaly Analytics with Watson either jointly or separately.
  • Standalone installation of common services
The deployment script is enhanced to exclusively support the installation of the common services including the Problem Insights server, the Keycloak authentication service, gateway service, Kafka broker, Zookeeper, datastore and other services.
  • Problem Insights server as OCI container
On Linux, the Problem Insights server is no longer a separately installable component. You can now deploy and manage the Problem Insights server as an OCI software container along with other container-based components included in Z Operational Log and Data Analytics.

Currency support for Z Common Data Provider data types

Z Operational Log and Data Analytics 5.1.1.10 expands support for data types with additional upgrades/currency support for the following records:

  • The record definitions of MQS_115_1 and MQS_115_2 are updated to accommodate the latest log manager statistics and shared message data set (SMDS) statistics in IBM® MQ 9.3.
  • The record definitions of IMS_07 and IMS_56FA are updated to accommodate the latest log records X'07' and X'56FA' in IBM Information Management System 15.3.
  • The SMF_1154_97 data stream and its record definition are updated to support new fields in SMF 1154 subtype 97.

Enhancements to multiple Z Common Data Provider components

Multiple Z Common Data Provider components including the Configuration Tool, the data gatherers and the Data Streamer are enhanced to continue to provide advanced data streaming capabilities. For example,

  • The Configuration Tool is redesigned to support the data collection of comprehensive data types by the Data Collector.
  • The Data Collector now collects a broader range of data streams for SMF and log data types.
  • The workload report function in the Data Streamer is now available for generating a statistics report to help you quickly diagnose the Data Streamer storage issues.
  • The security communications between the Data Streamer and its subscribers are enhanced by leveraging a set of new scripts.
  • And more ...
