Don’t miss the newly documented use cases of IBM Service Management Unite

  

IBM Service Management Unite is a user interface that integrates data from IBM Z System Automation, IBM Z NetView, IBM OMEGAMON agents, and IBM Z Workload Scheduler. It provides comprehensive predefined dashboards that you can use to monitor and operate your mainframe environment. In addition, it utilizes Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH) to allow you to create customized dashboards with interactive widgets so you can focus on system health and problem identification, triage and service restoration.

It might be overwhelming to monitor the status of all resources controlled by IBM Z System Automation in large enterprise environments at the same time. However, with IBM Service Management Unite, you can create custom dashboards to show the status of all their key systems, sub-systems, and automation resources, and thus identify, isolate and fix problems more quickly.

The newly documented use cases provide step by step instructions on how to create the following three dashboards:

  • A dashboard with a Status Gauge widget that reflects the Worst Resource State at an application or system level.


  • A dashboard with two System Automation Table widgets, one listing automation resources, the other showing captured messages from the resources.

    In addition, you can link the dashboards so when you click a widget in one dashboard, another dashboard is opened with relevant data displayed, for example,

  • A dashboard showing how many resources within a group are in a particular state, for example, how many resources are OK and how many resources are in the Warning state. If the number of resources in a particular state increases, you can click the group gauge widget to see which resources they are, making it easy to identify the resources that need attention.
