We're excited to announce the latest release of IBM Z Software Asset Management, version 8.3.1, bringing a range of new features and improvements aimed at enhancing data accuracy, security, and user experience for IBM z/OS Asset Management. This update focuses on refined data validation, enhanced reporting for multi-repository setups, and more detailed asset insights.
Here’s a look at what’s new in IBM Z Software Asset Management 8.3.1.
## 1. Improved Input Length Validation
To help maintain data quality, IBM Z Software Asset Management 8.3.1 includes automatic validation for field lengths in forms. This feature prevents entries that don’t meet set length requirements, ensuring data accuracy and consistent formats across all reports
## 2. Enhanced Add/Delete Action Controls
This release introduces measures to prevent unauthorized actions based on the data present. If an item already exists, the system will prevent attempts to add it again. Conversely, if an item is not present, deletion actions will be blocked. These enhancements help maintain data integrity and improve overall application reliability.
For those working with multi-repository reports, new optimizations and restrictions simplify the process. When selecting multiple repositories, users can no longer choose an alternative output format unless the “multi repositories on single report” option is activated. This change improves performance and makes analyzing aggregated data simpler and faster.
## 5. Enhanced Query and Results Table Layouts
To provide clearer, more detailed data views, IBM Z Software Asset Management 8.3.1 introduces several new columns and refined layouts in query results tables for several reports adding:
- ** NEW SCRT Metrics **: “Product Use Trend” report now presents a new metric, “FullCap MSU"
- **LPAR Number and Name**: Added to provide detailed insights into Logical Partitions (LPARs) within system resource reports.
- **Machine Details**: New columns displaying key hardware information, particularly helpful in machine resource tracking for example in “Machine Resources” report
- **Period of Usage**: Time-based data on resource utilization periods is now visible in several reports, making it easier to monitor and analyze usage trends, for example in “Machine Inventory” report
- **GA DATE**: "Discovered Product Detail" reports now also displays this field
These additions make reports more intuitive, allowing users to easily review asset utilization and monitor resource performance.
