IBM is proud to announce the latest update to our DevOps Acceleration Program course catalogue, version 2 of the Mainframe build in a DevOps pipeline with IBM Dependency Based Build (also known as DBB Fundamentals) course. This course is a revamp of the original DBB Fundamentals course, with new and improved course content. This self-paced, online course takes roughly 8 hours to complete, and grants an official Acclaim/Credly badge upon completion which you can display to show off your achievement.

If you've already completed the original DBB Fundamentals course, you don't need to complete the new version to keep your badge, but we encourage you to take a look at the updated course nonetheless since it includes a significant amount of new material

This course is designed to provide the learner with an introduction to IBM Dependency Based Build, and how it can be used to build traditional mainframe-based programs. IBM Dependency Based Build is an intelligent build system for traditional z/OS applications written in languages such as COBOL and PL/I that allows the analysis of build dependencies between objects.

When enhancing this course, we wanted to make the existing content more accessible, while also introducing new content to the course. Only a small handful of the lessons are unchanged between the two versions of the course, as most lessons are either re-worked to improve clarity or are net-newSome of the highlights of the new version of the course include 2 new modules; Migrating Source Members to Git & Packaging and Deployment, and over 30 new and revamped lessons in the form of videos, quizzes and slide decks.

By presenting the core learning through quality and varied text, visuals, and videos, alongside hands-on workshop scenarios, we try to cover multiple learning styles and make the course as accessible as possible. With the power of IBM's zTrial technology, a cloud-based platform from which you can explore IBM tech with near-zero footprint on your local machine, the hands-on workshops scenarios are accessible on nearly every device.

The course is available at no-cost-to-you, and the self-paced nature of the course means that you can complete the course on your own timeframe. No fixed-time online meetings and no deadlines mean you simply progress through the course when you have time. Flexibility is the key to success in today's work, and the DevOps Acceleration team at IBM is happy to help provide this knowledge transfer in a flexible and accessible way.

To sign up for the course, simply click here to get a high level overview of the topics covered and understand the course objectives. Alternatively, you can directly launch the course here and begin working through the materials right away. You will be able to learn more about IBM's Dependency Based Build product, take quizzes to demonstrate and solidify your understanding, and ultimately earn the Dependency Based Build Fundamentals badge.

After completing the course, we want to hear from you. We hope to be able to iteratively improve upon the course even further, and that requires your feedback. Included in the course is a feedback and support form for use upon completion. Everything from small suggestions to overarching changes to the course is appreciated and valued.
