IBM compiler Requests for Enhancements have moved to IBM Ideas

Why did Request for Enhancements (RFEs) migrate?
You spoke, we listened - We're changing the way ideas are submitted to IBM. For many years, the IBM RFE Program has provided an opportunity for customers, business partners and IBMers to suggest changes to our products and services. However, we know from what you have told us that it hasn't always been easy to understand the status of your ideas. This is now about to change. We are now embarking on an IBM-wide program to provide you with a better way to tell us what you need.

Where can I find previously submitted RFEs?
As of March 17, 2022, all existing compilers RFEs from the IBM Request For Enhancement (RFE) Community have been migrated to the IBM Z Software Ideas portal based on Aha!. The compiler RFE migration included all open and closed RFEs from DeveloperWorks for C/C++, COBOL, Fortran, Go, Java, Node.js, PL/I, Python, and Automatic Binary Optimizer. Our goal is to provide you with an easier way to track your ideas, and the ability to collaborate with users, partners and IBMers around the world.  All customers impacted should have received an email with a link to their original RFEs in DeveloperWorks. All original RFEs have been updated to include a link to their migrated Idea in Aha!

What is the IBM Ideas Portal?
The IBM Ideas Portal provides you with a way to give the IBM compiler development team feedback as to where you would like them to make changes and improvements to products. It also allows you to collaborate with other users by browsing all requests, voting on them, and making comments. This helps the IBM compilers development team make sure that they are working on what you, the customer, wants. The only requirement for submitting or voting for an enhancement request is that you first logon with your IBMid.  This ensures that you have a legitimate email account and a company name.

Are Ideas public?
The IBM Ideas Portal is public, so other customers can add comments and vote for your Ideas. This can help refine the solution and also add weight to the Idea.  When you create a new Idea, you can use the "Additional Details" field to prevent at least part of the information you share with IBM from being public. If you would like your entire Idea to be private, you can use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal for any IBM product and select "Visible only to you and IBM". No matter whether you submit your idea in the IBM Z Software Ideas portal or the IBM Unified Ideas Portal, the idea will reach the IBM compilers team. We recommend using the IBM Z Software Ideas portal to have an experience that is scoped to IBM zSystems Software.

If an Idea is public ("Visible to everyone"), everyone can see the Idea and all comments. If an Idea is private ("Visible to you and IBM"), only the creator and IBMers can see the Idea and comments. So, if you would like to add a comment to someone else's Idea that you do not want others to see, then you should contact IBM through a more private means. For example, you can contact your client representative or technical sales representative.

How should I submit ideas for documentation changes?
In addition to the product itself, you can submit Ideas to ask for and vote for significant changes to the compilers documentation. For small changes like an error on a page, email us at compinfo@cn.ibm.com. But Ideas are ideal if you want more extensive changes like updates to an entire section or subject. Either way, your feedback goes to the compilers documentation team.
