Meet Sabine Diemt, a very special and talented Champion who is a pilot at MENA Aerospace Enterprises W.L.L. and a part-time computer science student at the FernUniversität Hagen, Germany.
Her favourite IBM Product is IBM Z. According to her, “It’s fascinating how IBM reinvented and modernised the mainframe over the past decades, offering a product which is still highly relevant nowadays. And don’t get me started on the zero downtime, quantum-safe and pervasive encryption, and the Telum chip with AI accelerator!”.
Her favourite type of advocacy is Speaking and she loves organising and speaking at events to show the next generation what mainframes are, what they are capable of, and their incredible versatility.
Being an IBM Champion and giving back to the technology community have been an exciting journey for Sabine. She says, “It’s a pleasure seeing the impact I can make on some people and getting positive feedback on how I helped them progress. As IBM Champion, I’m in an invaluable position to guide others with tips around the mainframe, further training, and networking which in turn grows and strengthens the community”.
She is really proud about the fact that the information she provides through the events have helped people to obtain a job/internship or gave them the tools to progress in their job. She adds, “It’s great to see that my efforts have a meaningful impact”.
She is glad that she could combine her dream jobs, being a Captain of a business jet and advocating for mainframes as IBM Champion and IBM Z Student Ambassador at the same time.
This is what she has to say to the IBM Champions Program prospects; “I encourage and actively approach people when I see their passion for mainframes. The IBM Champion program gives them even a deeper insight, a great network and so many opportunities to grow personally and technically”.
