Registration for the IBM Z Student Contest, powered by IBM Z Xplore
is live and ready for students looking for additional ways to get involved with the IBM Z enterprise system as well as a better understanding of the unique value IBM Z has in the real world. Those who are 18 years and older and are attending an accredited school are eligible to compete to win the contest and receive a cash prize reward.
IBM Z Xplore is the new IBM Z learning platform for any student, educator or re-skiller that wants to enhance their skills on IBM Z and dive deeper into enterprise computing. The content on the learning platform is going to be available year-round and for years to come, with new content being added along the way. Separately, IBM Z Xplore is powering the IBM Z Student Contest.
The IBM Z Student contest is hosted and run by HackerEarth, an industry leader in hackathons with a global community of over 6 million developers and 450 universities. For this contest, students will find themselves in an unknown digital city. Their mission? Build a vehicle and find a way to escape it. The parts to build the vehicle are scattered throughout the city and students must use IBM Z and their skills to find the vehicle parts, build the vehicle and escape.
Throughout the one-month contest, there will be five different drops of information for students to use to complete the contest. Each drop, or challenge, will inform the students on what their next task will be and what they will have to do to accomplish it. The contest will run from October 15th to November 15th ET.
The contest will integrate a multitude of skills that students will have either learned on their own time or while going through the IBM Z Xplore learning platform. Some of the skills integrated into the contest will be (but not limited to): JCL, COBOL, REXX, Python, SQL and more. While not required, it is highly encouraged that students work through the IBM Z Xplore learning platform before beginning the contest in order for students to maximize their chance of completion and winning.
