IBM Releases Additional Features to Augment z/OS v2.5

Mainframes continue to be a vital workhorse for businesses and IBM continues to rollout enhancements to expand the already multi-faceted capabilities of the impressive z/OS v2.5.  Listed below are just a few:

  • The z/OS enhancements include a system recovery boost which allows for boosted processor capacity and parallel processing for specific recovery events. SVC dump processing and HyperSwap configuration load and reload may be boosted to lessen any impact to running workloads.
  • Management Facility (z/OSMF) has new capabilities to allow users to further leverage existing CRFM policy editor functions, create and delete USS symbolic links and allows easy ability to validate the connection status of managed systems.
  • CRFM support for 4096 CF structures in a Parallel Sysplex
  • z/OS Parallel Sysplex enhancements for the IBM z16TM CFLEVEL 25 such as support for the new Z16TM coupling facility, CFLEVEL 25, which provides improved Parallel Sysplex performance and resiliency.
