Announcing IBM Z Development and Test Environment (IBM ZD&T) V13.1. We thought V13.0 and V13.0.1 were good but we could do even better. So today, we are excited to announce the release of V13.1.
IBM Z Development and Test Environment V13.1 supports cloud integration to speed up the environment provision time to private or public cloud. Even though the first deployment to the cloud still takes the same amount of time as deploying an image on-premises, the subsequent deployment or provision can be done in less than 30 minutes. OpenStack is the first cloud infrastructure to be supported, followed by public and private clouds
So, what’s new?
- IBM Z Development & Test Environment Enterprise edition 13.1 introduces support for deploying images and provisioning emulated z/OS instances from those images into a Red Hat OpenShift target environment
- By integrating with the Sandbox operator provided by IBM Wazi Developer, API support is available to provide the provision of emulated z/OS instances from an image in a Red Hat OpenShift namespace
- If your cluster provides a storage class that supports Kubernetes CSI volume cloning, then you can deploy an image created within IBM Z Development & Test Environment Enterprise edition to persistence volume in your Red Hat OpenShift target environment for quick cloning of future emulated z/OS instances within the same namespace
IBM Z Development and Test Environment now easily automates building customized z/OS images and then run them in an emulated z/OS environment on either a x86_64 Linux, OpenStack cloud, Docker environment or Red Hat OpenShift.
Stay tuned as our journey to cloud just started… to where no z/OS has gone before!
