Every single day, there are 2.14 billion people around the world making online transactions. Online sales hit more than $790 billion in 2020, up 32.4% from nearly $600 billion in the prior year, and it keeps growing as more and more people around the world are gaining access to the internet. Across the US alone, the number of online shoppers has reached 255 million people and continues to grow daily.

Now, you might be wondering how complex these processes are especially after reading all these huge numbers. Well, the short answer is yes, computing technologies are not easy to understand at first sight.

BUT, we have great news for you!

We’ve got you covered. What if you could learn everything you need to know to get started with this technology in the palm of your hand with a simple game? Yes, you read that right! IBM Z has just launched something to help you gain an overview of enterprise computing in just one hour, it’s called IBM Hour of Z.

IBM Hour of Z, Available now!

We’ve teamed up with code.org and a number of incredible collaborators from across the globe, including Creators2030, Junior Achievement, IEEE, and more to help you learn more about enterprise computing and the IBM Z environment through a simulation of what happens behind the scenes of an online transaction. You are the hero of the game, and Dylan is counting on you to help buy a birthday gift for their daughter. You will navigate through the digital underground to help ensure Dylan’s purchase goes through successfully. All the while, you’ll acquire a solid understanding of the behind-the-scenes processes of going about your day-to-day, including APIs, networks, and the mighty cloud. You will also get a chance to build your own IBM Z machine from scratch and learn more about how these machines are open, on, and secure.
