Badge Up, ISVs!

You may have already earned an IBM Z and Linux One Community badge – and you probably don’t even know it!

As ISVs, you’re always out in the ecosystem, advocating for the IBM zSystems platform: speaking at events, mentoring students, posting on social media, hosting webinars, publishing online blogs.  You know the value of zSystems, and you love sharing it.

What you might not realize is that all your activities add up to acts of advocacy -- and you can be recognized for your efforts with IBM badges!  It’s a great way to advertise your eminence.

There are three levels of digital IBM Z and LinuxONE Community Advocacy badges:

  • Contributor (Level 1)
  • Advocate (Level 2)
  • Influencer (Level 3)

More information about the different levels can be found here.  To start, let's talk about the Level 1 Contributor badge, and how you can earn it in just three easy steps.

Step One: Join Fans of IBM zSystems Hub.

Step Two: Achieve two acts of advocacy by contributing to the IBM zSystems community.

Here’s a list of possible contributions.  (Remember, you only need two.)

  • Convince another colleague or friend to join Fans of IBM zSystems Hub
  • Create one blog post on the IBM Z and LinuxONE Community (which includes our group, the ISV Ecosystem User Group)
  • Create one LinkedIn post about IBM Z Xplore Learning Platform (social kit available here)
  • Write an article or blog on online forums such as IBM Developer, Medium, or LinkedIn
  • Make a presentation at a conference
  • Host a webinar
  • Mentor a student or community member

There are other opportunities, as well.  More advocacy ideas can be found here

Step Three: Apply for your badge here.

Here’s the great part: If you’re already actively advocating for IBM zSystems, you’ve probably already made two eligible contributions within the past calendar year.  In that case, you can skip Step Two and start applying for your badge!

Once you’ve earned your Contributor badge, you can work your way up to the Advocate and Influencer badges with more contributions to the community. Get busy and badge up!
