Run containerized Java applications natively on z/OS

  

With the release of the IBM z/OS Containers Platform (zOSCP) 1.1, z/OS customers can now leverage the strengths of IBM Z and the agility of container technology. Since their introduction, containers have been a main part of application development due to their portability and efficiency.

With the Java container image in IBM z/OS Container Platform, users can:

  • Increase speed from development to deployment of z/OS Java based applications, users can worry less about the system setup/configuration
  • Increase predictability and repeatability across the application lifecycle for z/OS Java applications
  • Scale and load balance easily, by spreading the load on different Java-based containers and processors
  • Enhance best practices across z/OS Java development, testing, and operations
  • Develop Java applications and deploy them natively as container images in z/OS containers. 

How to obtain the Java image for IBM z/OS Container Platform?
You can open a case via IBM Support and select "z/OS Container Platform" as a product option. Enter your request for Java image for IBM z/OS Container Platform.

If you have any issues copying or pulling the image from ICR, please open a case against the IBM z/OS Container Platform product with Program ID 5655-MC3. Hi Uwe, you can open a case for "IBM z/OS Container Platform" (Program ID 5655-MC3) requesting access to this Java image. You'll then receive a memo pdf document detailing the steps to obtain the Java image from ICR with installation instructions.
