Additional Java 11 on z/OS security providers are now available in the service stream

  
Starting IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS, Version 11.0.16.0, the following security providers have been made available: 
  •  zERT-enabled Java Secure Socket Extension (ZERTJSSE) provider - A security provider that enables secure internet communications and gathers security information about those communications for reporting to z/OS® Encryption Readiness Technology (zERT)
  • PKCS11 Implementation (SunPKCS11) - Uses the Java™ Cryptography Extension (JCE) and Java Cryptography Architecture (JCA) frameworks to seamlessly add the capability to use hardware cryptography using the PKCS#11 Cryptographic Token Interface standard

This 11.0.16.0 delivery, along with 11.0.15.0 (link), complete the set of highly sought after security extensions outlined in this blog: Java 11 on z/OS Security Extensions Under Consideration for Service Stream Updates

Please note that IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS Version 11 contains the OpenJDK security implementation whereas Version 8 contains IBM security implementation. Differences between these implementations might require code changes to your applications. For more details, refer to the Semeru Runtimes security migration guide.

How to obtain IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS, Version 11?
IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition for z/OS, Version 11 is available for zero license charge through Shopz (5655-DGJ) SMP/E, or you can download the non-SMP/E here.  The subscription and service number is 5655-I48.
