IBM® Copy Services Manager provides the ability to control Copy Services used by supported storage systems, such as the IBM DS8000 series. Some of the available Copy Services are FlashCopy, Global Mirror, and Safeguarded Copy. In addition to the graphical user interface (GUI) and command-line interface (CLI), Copy Services Manager also has REST APIs used to manage and query their sessions and other services.
With APAR PJ46793, the z/TPF support for IBM Copy Services Manager leverages these REST APIs to send requests to a Copy Services Manager using the ZCPYS console command. The ZCPYS PROFILE command is used to configure a server profile for establishing and managing a connection with a Copy Services Manager. The ZCPYS SGC command is used to query the status of Safeguarded Copy sessions and issue the Backup action to a specific session. There are future plans to extend this support to manage a few other services on the Copy Services Manager from the TPF console.
