z/OS Communications Server Technical Update: Summer 2021 Edition

In this session, the speakers will provide a look ahead to new features coming to z/OS Communications Server in z/OS V2.5. Features to be discussed include:
    • Shared Memory Communications multiple subnet support (SMCv2)
    • Enhancements to z/OS Encryption Readiness Technology (zERT)
    • Notification of availability of TCP/IP extended services
      … and more!
    • Time: Aug. 10, 2021, 10:45 AM  -  11:30 AM (CDT)
    • Speakers:
      • Sam Reynolds
      • Mike Fitzpatrick

    z/OS Communications Server Performance Update

In this session, the speaker will explore selected topics related to the performance of z/OS Communications Server (CS), with a particular focus on recent releases of z/OS Communications Server. Topics to be covered include the performance advantages of Shared Memory Communications, the networking cost of securing TCP connections, and more.
    • Time: Aug.10, 2021, 11:45 AM  -  12:30 PM (CDT)
    • Speakers:
      • Mike Fitzpatrick
      • David Herr

Shared Memory Communications Version 2 - Multiple IP Subnet Support

Shared Memory Communications has been limited to communications within a single IP subnet. SMC Version 2 removes this limitation by providing multiple IP subnet support for both SMC-D and SMC-R. SMCv2 expands your potential SMC use cases for your application workloads extending the opportunity for savings. In this session our speaker will introduce the key concepts of SMCv2 along with the underlying technology. Learn how you can unleash SMCv2 in your Enterprise!
    • Time: Aug. 10, 2021, 1:30 PM  -  2:15 PM (CDT)
    • Speakers:
      • Jerry W. Stevens
      • Randall Todd Kunkel

ISPF Latest Improvements From IBM and User Experience

ISPF has made some enhancements in the most recent release of z/OS (V2R4) and has more planned for the upcoming release (V2R5). In addition to development from the IBM ISPF team, there has also been some interesting contributions from the ISPF community. In this session, IBM and a contributing member of the ISPF community will discuss these changes and share their ISPF experiences.
    • Time: Aug. 11, 2021, 11:45 AM  -  12:30 PM (CDT)
    • Speakers:
      • Sam Reynolds
      • Tom Conley (non-IBM)

z/OS Encryption Readiness Technology Goes Live!

For the past few years, many z/OS users have discovered the power of z/OS Encryption Readiness Technology (zERT) in gaining a comprehensive view of z/OS TCP and EE cryptographic protection. But the story doesn't end there. In the near future, you will be able to configure zERT rules to take actions in real time based on the observed cryptographic attributes of inbound and outbound z/OS TCP connections!   Come to this session to learn more about zERT policy-based enforcement, how it will be configured, and what it can do to help enforce your organization's network security policies.
    • Time: Aug.12, 2021, 2:30 PM  -  3:15 PM (CDT)
    • Speaker: Chris Meyer
