Want to showcase your skills doing ServerPac installations using z/OSMF’s Software Management? Check out the new ‘z/OS Installation Using z/OSMF’ Credly badge and put your skills to the test! Upon acceptance, this badge will indicate that the owner has proven skills necessary to install and service products from z/OSMF.
Badge Description
z/OS (and other products from the z/OS stack) are available to be delivered as a ServerPac in z/OSMF Software Management portable software instance format. This is designed to help make installation faster, easier, and consistent among industry standards.
Starting with z/OSMF 2.5, any ServerPac for z/OS is now packaged and installable only with z/OSMF, meaning z/OSMF is a driving system requirement.
Whether you’re a novice z/OS system programmer or brand new, this badge will be used to help close the skills gap apparent in doing z/OS installations using z/OSMF, and will help users embrace the modern and simplified way of doing z/OS installations.
As ServerPac installations are the industry standards, proving you have experience performing z/OSMF-based installs is a resume-worthy skills, and now you can have the badge to prove it!

Acceptance criteria:
1. Review the ‘ServerPac Installation using z/OSMF’ content solution page
o This page includes explanatory resources such as Documentation links, technical presentation guides, and more. Whether you have experience doing ServerPac installations or you do not, reviewing the material on this page will ensure you are well prepared to begin the installation or upgrade process.
2. Watch the z/OSMF Guild Session recording #3, 'Installing z/OS Software with z/OSMF'
o This session provides further guidance as you prepare for your install
3. Watch the 7-part video series 'ServerPac Installation with z/OSMF'
o This series takes you through the process step-by-step of installing software onto z/OS using z/OSMF Software Management. You may instead choose to follow along using your own z/OSMF server on your own z/OS system.
4. Action: Under the ‘How to get started: Try It’ tab on the content solution page, acquire and deploy the sample z/OSMF portable software instance to your system.
o When successful, take two screenshots within your z/OSMF Software Management plugin:
i. Screenshot 1: Take a screenshots of your ‘Deployment’ table, ensuring the package has an activity status of ‘completed’
ii. Screenshot 2: Take a screenshot of your ‘Software Instances’ table, showing the package exists on your system and has been defined to Software Management
5. Review the ‘z/OSMF Software Updates’ content solution page
o This page provides explanatory resources for installing corrective, recommended, and functional updates to your system.
6. Action: Update that deployed software instance using z/OSMF Software Update.
o To do so, install one of the sample PTFs that was provided in the product that was installed onto your system. Check out the the ‘How to get started: Try It’ tab for more details.
i. When successful, take a screenshot within your z/OSMF Software Update plugin, showing the ‘completed’ status of the software instance.
7. Submit the three screenshots, as outlined above, to Fiona.king@ibm.com for review. When accepted, your badge will be issued to you.
