Meet The Newest Penguin on The Block

My name is Eyitayo, I am from Nigeria and I am the newest penguin in the IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator team. It is okay to refer to me as the Cloud Solution Architect on the HPA team. I work with the Chief Technical Penguin to support cloud migration, deployment, adoption and utilization of the IBM cloud and hyper protect resources.

My first degree is in computer engineering and I enjoyed every bit of challenges that came with those five years of study. I focused solely on schooling but created a little time in my final year to serve the community through the LEO club. Proceeding to graduate school, I decided to focus more on giving back to my community which led to the founding and managing several communities. I started some technical and developer communities - from Google Developer Group to Google Women Techmakers,  Wikipedia,  Facebook developer circle - Women in Tech, to Android developer community, Kotlin developer community and more. One of my Interesting non-technical communities was TED. As a TEDx Licensee and speaker, I get the opportunity to research, listen and curate other people’s ideas. Attending my first TED conference was amazing as I met more people from across the world in the TED community.

In 2015, I founded my non-profits - Techy Girls Foundation  (Where we teach young girls how to code, play with microcontrollers and build stuff) and African Women in technology and Business (Where we train female entrepreneurs on how to boost their businesses with technology and turn technology ideas into businesses). Over 5000 women have been impacted - yeah that’s why we do what we do - #Impact! My contribution to solving problems and making the world a better place.

My experience working with technical/developer communities and my entrepreneurial experience with running my African fashion.

Yea, I have a fashion and creativity business!

The business communities in the past will come in handy in my new role as I support the entrepreneurs on the IBM Hyper protect Accelerator.

My indoor hobby is making dresses with African prints, my outdoor one is mushroom hunting while my cloud hobby is playing in LinuxONE. Feel free to reach out and ask questions about my three hobbies and I'm willing to chat.

One thing you should know about me is that I make the world-famous inspirational Nigerian Jollof - yeah,  you read well, I cook! (You shouldn’t Google that yet so you won’t salivate hahaha )

You should write an intro blog on the hub too as I’d like to get to know you, the problem you’re solving, the impact you’re creating and how you’re making the world a better place  - who knows, I might find some hobby buddy in here.

Tweet your blog @alimieyitayo

I look forward to reading from you.

Warm hugs from the newest penguin on the block.
