Over the years, a lot of folks have worked on various open source ports of popular open source tools for z/OS Unix System Services, and changes are submitted to the upstream open source project for inclusion. While various teams have worked on this over the years, until now there has never been a public effort to bring these folks together. Enter the z/OS Open Source Community Guild.
The guild maintains tools and documentation on GitHub, and collaborate to submit changes upstream.
In a recent blog post, Mike Fulton outlines his own efforts on the port of Perl for z/OS, and shares the resources that have already been made available: The z/OS Open Source Community.
