My experience as an IBM zDay 2022 speaker

In the past Wednesday (14/09) I had the pleasure to take part at IBM zDay as a speaker in two sessions. In the first session I was able to guide students on how to get started at IBM Z Xplore, completing the first challenge live, and teaching how to get started with the IBM zStudent Contest. In the second session, a Portuguese language one, I had the opportunity to share about my experience as an IBM zSystems Student Ambassador and with the IBM Z Xplore platform.

I don't think of myself as a good public speaker, it gets me very nervous and anxious. Becoming an IBM zSystems Student Ambassador was my way of taking myself out the comfort zone and try to improve at it. Before my  IBM Z Xplore showcase in the first session I was super stressed: What if anything goes wrong with my internet? What if I mess up mid presentation ? What if...

When I started speaking my many preparation runs took over my fear, and after a deep breath I did what I trained before. Even then mistakes happened and things went wrong, but, the most important is to remember, that's ok, it happens.

After the first session I went to check my email, and there was a message from Paula inviting me to share a bit about my experience with the platform and as ambassador. I accepted this opportunity and went to check my social media, where my friends were sending prints from the event and congratulating me. The combination of my friends and this new opportunity made me super happy.

At the end of the day I was filled with a feeling of fulfilment and joy.

If anything I want everyone to take from this is: push yourself out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to improve.

A special thanks to Lucas SahnFlavia de Paula Cau and Monica Siegel (sorry I couldn't find your Global Hub profile )
