Announcing IBM z/OS Container Platform 1.1 Kubernetes orchestration and High Availability support!

  

Enterprises are adopting industry standard container technology as part of their digital transformation journey.

On March 15, 2024, IBM z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) 1.1, a new product offering that utilizes industry-standard open source technologies to build and run containerized z/OS UNIX applications natively on z/OS became Generally Available.

As organizations expand their use of this container technology, container orchestration to facilitate the management of containers and container resources is needed.

Today, we are excited to announce that IBM z/OS Container Platform will deliver industry-standard container orchestration and support to manage High Availability Kubernetes clusters.

IBM z/OS Container Platform will deliver container orchestration and High Availability support featuring:

  • Kubernetes open-source container orchestration technology

  • IBM Dynamic Virtual IP Addresses (DVIPA) technology for container networking

  • An embedded self-contained Control Plane Appliance to manage the Kubernetes cluster and resources

  • IBM z/OS Communication Server’s Sysplex Distributor technology for workload distribution across a High Availability Kubernetes cluster

IBM z/OS Container Platform enables organizations to build a robust, high availability environment for their containerized z/OS UNIX applications, driving improved development productivity and operational efficiencies.
