Hello Community. We are pleased to announce the latest update to IBM’s Z Trial program. After months of development, iteration, and testing we present to you four brand new, never before seen Z Trial scenarios for the oft imitated but never duplicated
IBM Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS.
What is the Z Trial Program?
The Z Trial program is a virtual environment where, within 2 hours after requesting, you can trial our products as if they were in a
real development LPAR. Z Trials are available for up to three days, and even weekends!
OK, tell me more.
IBM Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS is our popular problem determination tool, designed to accelerate identification of areas for improved application performance. It can be found in our popular
IBM Application Delivery Foundation for z/OS solution or as a standalone offering.
This newest addition to the Z Trial program provides users with a hands-on experience of IBM Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS. We've developed a mix of Eclipse-based GUI ...
...and ISPF 3270 based scenarios too!
You'll explore requesting observations for a sample COBOL/Db2 program and review the various reports available. And we’ll even make some changes in a Java program and compare the differences in our application’s performance. Users can complete each scenario in under 30 mins, and no prior z/OS or development experience is required. The tutorials are easy to follow, and you will learn a great deal along the way!
Here's a quick overview:
Scenario 1:
- Measure an existing Java™ application, modify source code to improve performance, and compare performance changes using Variance reports.
Scenario 2:
- Analyze an existing sample observation from a COBOL/ Db2® batch application, modify it to improve performance, submit a new observation, and compare the changes using Variance reports.
Scenario 3a (Eclipse-GUI):
- Using IBM Developer for z/OS, our Eclipse-based GUI, you'll sample an existing COBOL/ Db2® program running in batch mode, and we'll review many of the features found in some of our most widely used reports.
Scenario 3b (ISPF 3270):
- Using ISPF 3270, you'll sample an existing COBOL/ Db2® program running in batch mode, and we'll review many of the features found in some of our most widely used reports.
