IBM Z® OMEGAMON® AI for Storage 6.1 Fix Pack 1, APAR OA67240, and PTF UJ96553 have now shipped.
This deliverable provides the following to the product:
- zIIP offloading for the “All Datasets” and “Dataset Attributes” features
- Reduce the size of Payload for Realtime Dataset Metrics (aka RDM)
- New parameter KS3_TOOLKIT_DELETE_AFTER_DAYS for deleting old Storage Toolkit results
- 68 minor bugs have been fixed (including a preventive fix for HSM APAR OA67159)
zIIP offloading for the “All Datasets” and “Dataset Attribute Collection” features:
Before this deliverable, IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Storage 6.1 performed limited zIIP offloading (DASD Performance collection processing). In this deliverable, the zIIP offloading has been increased for the “All Datasets” and “Dataset Attributes” collections. This increases the zIIP usage by the product while also reducing the processing load on the standard processors. The increase in zIIP usage and reduction in standard processor usage will vary depending on several factors including the number of datasets on the system (including migrated and backed up), the number of “Dataset Attributes” groups, incremental collection intervals, etc. Existing OMEGAMON AI for Storage configuration parameter KS3_ZIIP_OFFLOAD=YES|NO enables/disables zIIP offloading (YES is the default).
Reduce the size of Payload for RDM:
The data size transferred between the RDM plugin in Zowe and IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Storage 6.1 in the TEMS has been reduced to reduce Network activity and CPU usage caused by RDM.
New parameter KS3_TOOLKIT_DELETE_AFTER_DAYS for deleting old Storage Toolkit results:
The new parameter KS3_TOOLKIT_DELETE_AFTER_DAYS has been added to help users delete outdated Storage Toolkit results. The default value is 0 – feature disabled. If you want to delete ALL Storage Toolkit actions older than 365 days every time you start the product you need to set the number of days to the KS3_TOOLKIT_DELETE_AFTER_DAYS parameter.
68 minor bugs have been fixed:
Many minor bugs have been fixed to improve user experience with the IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Storage 6.1.
Here also included the memory leak caused by DFSMShsm (which will be fixed by DFSMShsm in the APAR OA67159), possible ABEND in the KDFDSYM6 module, all known IPv6-related issues, and a few defects that helped to significantly improve the product termination time.
