FYI, There is now an iFix to address this data corruption. We have tested it and it appears to work and resolved the last byte of data getting altered. It is part of iFix 94 for Optim 11.3.0.7 (fixpack 7). ------------------------------ Keith Tidball Progressive Insurance ------------------------- ...

Before you expand the key limits, you should verify Optim is using sound execution paths against the tables. Optim is executing SQL under the covers, so if you see tables taking a long time to run you need to get back to some basic SQL query principles. Is your query on the Start table using an ...

The Data Byte Count in the archive report should be the byte count Optim read from your source. If you are unsure, just look at the byte count in the report to the actual byte count of the file you created by looking at the file in File Explorer or similar file/folder tool. If compression is on, the ...

Creating a View is done within the DBMS and then, yes, you reference the View and not the actual table in your Optim AD. You will need to check off the Optim product option to allow you to create Optim relationships against Views, too. ------------------------------ Keith Tidball Progressive Insurance ...

VARCHAR & NVARCHAR are different datatypes under the covers, so I'm not surprised Optim won't allow the relationship. We have gotten around some issues like this by creating a table VIEW and then casting the NVARCHAR column to be VARCHAR in the View Definition. Then create the Optim relationship ...

Curious if anyone is using or has created logic to find sensitive or PII data within free-form text strings. An example of this could be chat window information between a customer and a service rep whereby a customer could potentially enter sensitive information which gets saved into the repository holding ...

We have seen ODPP choke on such values, so we have code that evaluates the value of the field prior to masking it. If the value is blank or null, then just leave it as-is and don't try to mask it and move to the next record. ------------------------------ Keith Tidball Progressive Insurance ------ ...

Optim uses dynamic SQL in their various stored procs to open cursors against the target tables. Columnstore Indexes do not support cursor processing, so I'm not surprised Optim is throwing this error. I am not sure if Optim excludes these from Archives, but given its reliance on cursor processing I wouldn't ...

I don't believe that is possible with Optim Connect...and even if it were possible, I'd advise against it. We've found some shortcomings with Optim's memory management when attempting to run queries on too much underlying data inside an archive collection. You need to keep in mind that you are not getting ...

We actually were able to get the View to work properly in the Access Definition. There is a Product Options setting to allow this (why it is not a default, I have no idea). 1. Go into 'Product Options' 2. Open 'Database' Tab. 3. Check off the 'Allow Optim PK/Rels on Db Views' 4. Restart Optim Once ...

While working on resolving the issue I recently posted about Optim corrupting NVARCHAR(MAX) data fields, I decided that we could possibly work around this issue in the short term by creating a View against the table with the NVARCHAR data and CAST that column as VARCHAR(MAX) since Optim handles VARCHAR ...

I'm working on a new archiving request against SQL Server and I ran into an issue against a NVARCHAR(MAX) column. Optim will select all the data...but the last byte is getting changed/corrupted. In our case, it is being changed to an Asian character set. Any attempt to browse this data immediately abends ...

Curious, have you done a compare of the installation folders on both machines? Wondering if there is possibly some library or config files that are missing and/or different between the two. Sometimes copying the file(s) from the working version to the non-working one will resolve it. Doesn't answer ...

Haha, you go first! We just applied FP07 recently, so we're fine waiting on applying FP08. Reviewed the release notes and there isn't anything we need right now, so it's usually safer to wait and the let the bugs be addressed and the dust settle for a bit before applying anything. ------------------------------ ...

Gartner stopped doing the Magic Quadrant for structured data archiving (SDA) products. They said it's because SDA is considered a 'mature' sector and they don't track it to the extent they do for gathering data to create a Magic Quadrant since nothing has really changed. They do have a higher level comparison ...
