Many thanks to everyone, great suggestions. I will give the backup/restore a try. I am on 12.10 but will keep the mirroring in mind for the future. ------------------------------ Gary McNair ------------------------------

Hello, I have a chunk file that I want to move to a different directory. This is not the online_root file, just a different file that holds a few dbspaces. After doing some searching, I found a page on the IBM support site that says this can be achieved during a restore with 'ontape'. ontape ...

Thanks for the information Art. I think it best to do a clean install. As far as the data goes, we are using cooked dbspace files. So in addition to copying some of the configuration files, can I simply copy the dbspace files into the new installation (assuming the old server is offline so the files ...

Hello Informix Forum, I want ot upgrade our Express Edition from 12.10.FC5 to 12.10.FC15W1, as we occasionally get the server crashing, usually with a Linux "mutex" error (curiously a few hours after executing an ALTER TABLE command). On the IBM Fix Central it has fix packs for each successive ...

We run Informix on Red Hat EL 7 and Centos 7. Very happy with them. At some point we will move to RHEL 8 or 9 and probably Alma Linux (which is downstream from RHEL, as Centos was before Centos Stream came along) ------------------------------ Gary McNair ------------------------------

Your number of -21474840 looks very similar to -2^31 or -2147483648. I think that this is how Informix represents a NULL value internally for a 32 bit integer, for example. In the case of a decimal type I expect something similar. So this value you see is related to a NULL I believe, although something ...

Thankyou everyone. The DBACCESS_COLUMNS environment variable is what I need. SQLCMD looks interesting also. ------------------------------ Gary McNair ------------------------------

Hello, dbaccess presents select query output as a "table", one row per line, if the line is less than 80 chars, and switches to one column per line when greater than 80 chars. It does this in a linux terminal regardless of the width being well over 80 chars. This is very frustrating when you want ...

Hi Informix Group, We have been using IDS for 15 years or so, but our DB's have always been unlogged/raw. No transactions. We now have a need to reload a table atomically. By "reload" I mean clear all records from the table and load it fresh from a .dat file. By "atomically" I mean the change occuring ...
