DB2 Documentation 11.5 very slow

    Hi all,

The newly deployed DB2 Documentation is so slow ... it seems to me it is running on an old IBM PC with 32 MB RAM (yes that existed !).

Can you do something about it ? Pages seem to be very heavy to download !

Any chance we can get a download of Infocenter DB2 11.5 to run locally ?

    Best regards, JMB

Just to give an idea, looking for "keystore_location", it takes 10 seconds, "ssl_svcename", 8 seconds, as well as for SSL.

Looking at PostgreSQL, SSL gives back results in < 1 s.

I don't understand why IBM does not pay attention to performance when deploying new solutions like this ... and this was the same pb at beginning of Infocenter.

We should not run in "beta mode" for documentation we are using every day.

    Best regards,

    JMB

    I totally agree with you..
the knowledge center did give you some reply - although never what you were looking for, but the documentation center is SO SLOW.. and also does not return what you are looking for. A complete disaster.  It is high time that IBM makes an agreement with google to implement their search engine in the doc ceenter
Ibm has never been the best for tooling, but this one is below all level..   sorry ibm  (the only employer I had)

    Hello,

    I sometimes have:

    : (
    Oops, something went wrong
    Please try again later

or infocenter keeps looping on table content with no results found

Obviously IBM is not interested in documentation problems ...  sad, isn't it ?

    Best regards,

    JMB

is this link different from the one we are using ? NO
so ? I do not understand why you publish the link, as this is what we are talking/complaining about

    Hi,
I completely agree with the documentation performance. Also, it requires Internet access and in the hypothetical case of a Disaster recovery Internet access could not available.

Also, I would like something running in a docker, easier to deploy.

    Hi all.
My name is Philip Cho.  I manage Db2 support.  First of all, thank you so much for sharing your feedback.

I am very sorry for the troubles you're going through.  I've been working with the documentation infrastructure team, and had informed them of your concerns in this thread.  It seems that the performance problem is somewhat addressed.

But, I'd really appreciate if somone in this thread could do a quick test.  For example, @Jean-Marc BLAISE mentioned that it took 8 seconds to search for "keystore_location".  How about these days?

    Hi Philippe,

Regarding "keystore_location", it takes about 1,5 s as I test it.

But a 2nd search (just re-input the same), click in gives "
    Search couldn't find any matches.

Be aware of your spelling. Even a single, misspelled word can impact your results.

The more specific your search terms are, the better quality search results you will receive."

I search for "what's new", it took about 8 s. Then 2nd search same as above.
Reload documentation 11.5 and search "what's new", it takes less than 1.5 s.

It can also depends on the period of the day. This afternoon, Paris time, it was quite slow working with documentation center.

    Best regards,

    JMB

    Hi Philip,

I also bumped into "V10.1" titles in 11.5 documentation.
    I am attaching screen shot.

Intermittent performance...  That's the most difficult one to debug...  I'll forward your comment to the relevant team.

I started counting at one point today because it was so frustrating. I didn't start until several seconds after clicking a link in the search KC results for 11.1 (one of the json functions) and it took a full 20 seconds from the point I started counting for the page to come up.

I learned that there are two different portals.  One is IBM docs and the other is the product hub.  IBM docs is the one the team is improving.

Use this --> IBM Docs: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2/11.5
    Don't use this --> Product hub: https://www.ibm.com/support/producthub/db2/docs/content/SSEPGG_11.5.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.welcome.doc/doc/welcome.html

The team just finished reindexing 11.5 docs in IBM Docs.  They're continuing to reindex other versions, as well.  They're telling me it's fast.

@Ember Crooks, @Jean-Marc BLAISE, @Guy Przytula - when you can, I'd really appreciate if you could spare us a few minutes and give it a little test.

I learned that there are two different portals...
in the old days we would have said : to confuse the Russian ..
    Why maintaining 2 applications ?
I tested the recommended link and could agree, that this is faster, and returning better results..

ah haha.  definitely not about confusing Russian.  :-)

if any, it's confusing me, an IBMer.

sorry for the hassle.  and thank you for your time to provide feedback and test.  I really appreciate it.

    Hi Philip,

It seems since reindexation of IBM Docs, response time is much quicker and constant.

If you google "Infocenter 11.5" (which I always did, never been able to memorize urls), you end up with:
    IBM Db2 Version 11.5 documentation | IBM Db2
    https://www.ibm.com/support/producthub/db2/docs/content/SSEPGG_11.5.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.welcome.doc/doc/welcome.html

So it would be nice to redirect to the appropriate new documentation (I agree with Guy, this is very confusing), or make a super warning in this welcome page this site is obsolete ...

    Thanks,
