    Hello All,
My customer has requested Informix's protocol documentation, such as MariaDB's protocol description below.
    https://mariadb.com/kb/en/clientserver-protocol/

Is there any documents explaining the structure of packets exchanged between Informix client and server?
I can't find anything that explains the detailed structure like MariaDB.

MariaDB is an open source fork from MySQL so its protocol is open. Informix is a proprietary commercial product, its protocol is closed. If your company has a real need for the protocol beyond curiosity, they can make a request to IBM. There is precedent. IBM has worked with multiple software companies that had a need to process the communications packets under NDA, but it is not a published protocol that is documented.

    Thank you for answer. Art.

Since Informix is a commercial product, I expected that there would be no documentation on the protocol.

My customer is planning to implement a data transmission monitoring solution, and the solution maker seems to want to analyze Informix packets based on information about the Informix protocol.

Your client should be aware that there are two products available that do just that for Informix network packets: iWatch from Exact-Solutions (www.exact-solutions.com - don't forget the dash), and SQL PowerTools from SQLPower (www.sqlpower.com).

If the software vendor they are already working with wants to become #3, they can reach out to IBM. If they need a contact, I can help. There is a new individual assigned to help ISVs work with Informix. Have them reach out to me directly.
