Few Questions which were raised during my webinar are (I will keep on adding to this thread)

Q1): will 14.10 upgrade will reduce storage size compared with 11.70 ?
Ans): Probably not ... unless you use features like COMPRESSION.

Q2): In my case we have PRIM-SDS-HDR(DR), I'm planning to upgarde prim 1st and then move to other replication
Ans): When you are doing in-place upgrade, you have to upgrade your IDS version across cluster in the same downtime to the same version. It doesn't matter which server you choose first, because all were down when you are doing in-pace upgrade.
Reason for saying upgrade in the same downtime is, you can not have different version across cluster. So if your primary is upgraded to 14.10, then it's secondary's would also be on 14.10.

Q3): Is it posible to have this slides later ?
Ans): Below is the link to download slides:
    https://community.ibm.com/community/user/hybriddatamanagement/viewdocument/upgrade-with-success-from-informix?CommunityKey=b5b60ace-5eb2-4444-a961-d9edb6f39bd8

Q4): quetion might not belong to this sessions, last time I migrate from 11 to 12 , I run oncheck -cD and It long time on table SYSAMS around 4 houers.
Ans): sysams is the system catalog table to determine if additional access methods are there in your nvironment and you have registered them! Not really sure where it gets stuck. onstat's data should be required to analyze the issue. This should have deal with support team

Q5): what is the recomendation regarding chunks? cooked filer or raw device ?
    Ans):Please refer below tech note:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/what-are-differences-between-using-raw-disk-vs-cooked-files-informix-chunk-files-unix-server

Q6): Using the ER, I guess there is no need for any oncheck ?
Ans:) Yes, if you are doing migration using ER, i would still suggest you to do that because it's a new system on a different hard disk. So corruption can occur anytime.

Q7): In case you migrate using HDR, you mean u can have a primary server which can be 11.70 and the secondary server 14.10 ? and when I go live with it is just to swich between them and in case of any problem, is it just to swich back?
Ans:) No. If you have Primary and HDR, and you are doing in-place upgrade, then you have to do version upgrade in the same window and then start your primary instance followed by HDR instance.
And incase you are migrating using fancy techniques like Rolling upgrade & cdr migrate server, they uses ER in the background which rill convert your HDR to ER. In this case you can have primary on 11.70 and there will no HDR. In-fact HDR will be converted to ER node which keeps on snooping data from primary and keep it up-to date with primary. Later when your primary is on 14.10, you can again configure your HDR.
Please refer the URL of cdr migrate server and rolling upgrade for more info. And make sure before you proceed to production with any of these techniques, you must have tried this on your STG/Test instances

    Q8): what is the recomendation value for CONVERSION_GUARD ? 1 or 2?
Ans:) 1 = Enable a restore point as part of the upgrade process, and stop the upgrade if an error related to capturing restore point data occurs.
2 = Enable a restore point as part of the upgrade process, and continue the upgrade even if an error related to capturing restore point data occurs.

Q9):Is compression included with EE edition in 14.10?
    Ans): Yes it is!!!

Q10): if I am installing CSDK and Engine on the same directory , what should be the order ?
Ans): I tend to install CSDK afterwards, but with 14.10 and later CSDK I have not had issues installing in either order

Q11): are you going to send this recording to us ?
Ans): I hope you must have received the link of recording. If not, here is the URL for the same.
    https://event.on24.com/eventRegistration/console/EventConsoleApollo.jsp?&eventid=2396294&sessionid=1&username=&partnerref=&format=fhvideo1&mobile=&flashsupportedmobiledevice=&helpcenter=&key=506913D69D1DD552209457406E9E8A4E&newConsole=false&nxChe=true&text_language_id=en&playerwidth=748&playerheight=526&eventuserid=309395223&contenttype=A&mediametricsessionid=285466144&mediametricid=3389449&usercd=309395223&mode=launch

Q12): Can Rolling Upgrades be performed on Workgroup Edition servers?
Ans): Yes. Rolling Upgrade will work with Workgroup edition

Q13): will the supplied 11.70 CSDK still work with 14.10 ?
Ans): Yes it will. We do encourage you to upgrade to CSDK 4.50 along with 14.10 server in order to get performance improvements, new functionality and defect fixes. But you don't have to.

Q14): Workgroup Edition supports double Memory now ? from 16GB to 32GB - correct?
Ans): Yes. https://www.iiug.org/en/2019/10/08/compare-informix/ is a great reference about the new limits in Informix 14.10

Q15): Is RHEL8 Linux supported / recommende for 14.10 or which RHEL Linux i should consider ?
Ans): Yes. Latest fixpack of 14.10 is certified on RHEL 8"

Q16): Is compression included with EE edition in 14.10? ?? I mean it free or have to buy it separately?
Ans): Yes, compression is included in the Enterprise Edition of 14.10 free of cost means you don't have to buy that separately.

Q17): Can we estimate the time to upgrade ?
Ans): You can estimate the same on your test instance. It all depends on how mucg databases your instance have.

Q18): are there lot of 14X customers available now ?
Ans): Yes and we can't share more info on this.

Q19): upgrading and or migration both are free ?
Ans: You'd have to have access to the new version of the software, version 14.10. If you have an active support agreement then you can download version 14.10. There is nothing else required.

Q20): Is compression free of charge with 14.10 or coming with as additionall product??
Ans): It is included in the Enterprise Edition

Q21): How the backout works in case of ""in place"" ?
Ans): You would need the 11.70 installation media and also a full level 0 archive. So, in effect, install 11.70 and perform a restore (if you mean installing in the same INFORMIXDIR)

Q22): The question is regarding using dummy update statement while fixing out-standing In-place alter, There can be tables with update triggers which we don't want to the triggers while running dummy updates.
Ans): One could disable the triggers whilst removing the in-place alters

Revisit Q21): How the backout works in case of ""in place"" ?
Ans: I take this as asking about in-place alters and reversion to 11.70 (or any earlier version). It is my understanding that in-place alters MUST be resolved before you can successfully revert to an earlier release after an upgrade. To avoid the downtime at that point, since presumably one is reverting because there was some unforeseen problem with using the newer release, it is important to have resolved the in-place alters before having upgraded when it could be done while the server was in service.
