    IDS 12.10.FC14
    Solaris 10 1/13

We just upgraded to 12.10.FC14 from 12.10.FC12.  We'd like to use InformixHQ, which became available in 12.10.FC13, I think.

The Informix documentation on this page:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ibm.sa.doc/sa.htm
has a link to InformixHQ documentation.

But, this page is like all the others that I have found (for example, the "What's New" page, which also has a link to the "InformixHQ Guide").   All links to InformixHQ documentation I have found so far are broken.

I do see that there is InformixHQ documentation in the 14.10 documentation, but I also see (from the "What's New" section that there is substantial difference between the InformixHQ in 12.10.FC14 and that in 14.10.

As requested on the page that the broken links open, I have sent an informative email to IBM at the address supplied.

Pending a fix by IBM, does anyone know if it is possible to view the InformixHQ documentation from the 12.10.FC14 release?

    Thank you.

I think I have found the answer.

HCL appears to have the documentation for 12.10 InformixHQ.

    Thant's good news, David.

Now howzabout the 14.x documentation - the manuals and guides.  I thought I had found them as web pages only but I can't find them again.

There are no v14.10 PDF docs or printed docs, only online. The link is:

The InformixHQ for v14.10 was coded to work with v12.10 as well, so all you have to do is to download one of the free v14.10 Editions (Developer or Innovator-C) and install Informix HQ from there in a separate directory. It will work just fine, has new features not in the v12.10 Informix HQ, and you can get the docs for it to boot!

    Thank you, Art.

While I was walking home, I wondered about that.  Thought that, well, there's an agent and a server.  The server must just be querying the engine, so why wouldn't 14.10 InformixHQ work with 12.10 (since the doc I have managed to find indicates that 12.10.FC<something-or-other> and later are "good to go" with InformixHQ).

Figured unless there is something specific or major in a later fix pack that a particular (new) feature of InformixHQ requires, it should all be good.

    Thanks.

Might anyone know whether/how I might be able to dig out HQ from the (unzipped) 14.10.FC4W1 install package?

I can't just run the installer and get it, because the installer won't run under Solaris 10.

Looks like there are some new goodies in the HQ in 14.10.FC4W1.  If it isn't feasible to snag HQ from the unzipped install files, I can get the version from 14.10.FC3 because it does run under Solaris 10.  But, you know, nice to have the latest and greatest admin tool.

    Thank you for any comments.

    Thanks Art
so if we use a developper edition 14.x on a a machine named M1, and want to administer a 12.x instances on other servers (let's say S1, S2..SN), what HQ agent version do we need on these servers, 12.x or 14.x .?

I would say either should work fine. But maybe someone from HCL can pipe in?

We are using the latest HQ 1.2.0 server from IDS 14.10.FC4W1 for IDS 12.10 systems. All new features are present (see Carlton's Deep Dive presentation). Either the old or new agent seems to work with it, so significant changes must only have been in the HQ server.

    Hello Doug,

have you test new HQ ER replication feature? I tested with 12.10.FC13 servers with ER configured, but no data on HQ ER replication page, only field names, no values, no diagrams. HQ server has repository on 14.10. FC4W1 server.
May I forgot something to configure?
    Thanks

No - I haven't. Is that with the latest HQ agent?

    Hi

    I'm about installing Innovator-c 14.10.xC2, more space to save monitoring information (storage 50Gb) (2 cores / memory 8Gb / Storage 50 Gb).

Question : when the 50 Gb is all used, how to save informations outside HQ (ontape) and purge the HQ db

    thanks in advance
