  • 1.  IBM DB2 Developer-C Edition and Standrad Edition

    Hello Everyone
    I have upgraded a Db2 11.1.4.4 (fixpack 4) Enterprise Server Edition to DB2 11.5 Server

The upgrade of Db2 and of databases have completed successfully

then I have applied the Standard Edition license : db2std_vpc.lic

I know that Standard Edition may use a maximum of 16 processor cores and 128 GB of main memory on each physical or virtual server.

When I see the status of licenses on the system just upgraded, I see this information:

    db2licm -l
Product name: "IBM DB2 Developer-C Edition"
    License type: "Community"
    Expiry date: "Permanent"
    Product identifier: "db2dec"
    Version information: "11.5"
Max amount of memory (GB): "16"
    Max number of cores: "4"
Max amount of table space (GB): "100"

    Product name: "DB2 Standard Edition"
    License type: "Virtual Processor Core"
    Expiry date: "Permanent"
    Product identifier: "db2std"
    Version information: "11.5"
    Enforcement policy: "Hard Stop"
    Features:
IBM DB2 Performance Management Offering: "Not licensed"

Is normal to see two products listed?
That limit  >Max number of cores: "4"<  is valid only for "IBM DB2 Developer-C Edition"  ?

And I have some doubt of the absence of "Max number of cores: " under DB2 Standard Edition . How should be interpreted it ?

    Regards,
    Antonio

    Hello Antonio,

You can remove the unnecessary license with db2licm -r [product-identifier].
    In your case it's db2licm -r db2dec.

    That's the output from my upgrade Db2 10.5.x to Db2 11.5 GA:
    db2licm -l
    Product name: "DB2 Standard Edition"
    License type: "Virtual Processor Core"
    Expiry date: "Permanent"
    Product identifier: "db2std"
    Version information: "11.5"
Max amount of memory (GB): "128"
    Max number of cores: "16"
    Enforcement policy: "Hard Stop"
    Features:
IBM DB2 Performance Management Offering: "Not licensed"

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hello Joachim,
Thanks for your answer. And I apologize to reply you only about 1 week late.
I have deleted the db2dec , and now I see only the Standard. The max number cores is not yet reported

    $ db2licm -l
    Product name: "DB2 Standard Edition"
    License type: "Virtual Processor Core"
    Expiry date: "Permanent"
    Product identifier: "db2std"
    Version information: "11.5"
    Enforcement policy: "Hard Stop"
    Features:
IBM DB2 Performance Management Offering: "Not licensed"

    Best regards,
    Antonio

    Hello Antonio,

That's odd. I think only IBM can answer that.
All my other databases have the same output.

Perhaps you have another level (newer?) for your database product.
DB21085I This instance or install (instance name, where applicable: "db2lrp")
uses "64" bits and DB2 code release "SQL11050" with level identifier
    "0601010F".
    Informational tokens are "DB2 v11.5.0.0", "s1906101300", "DYN1906101300AIX",
    and Fix Pack "0".
    Product is installed at "/opt/IBM/db2/11.5".

    Best regards,
    Joachim

It might be better to post this question in Db2 support community or slack channel.
