    Hi there,

I am wondering if the next generation of Netezza, IIAS/Sailfish is mature enough for production use and if any one of us is using it right now.

    I have the following questions:

    1. Does the db2 warehouse database have to be on the cloud?
    2. If the storage is on cloud, is there any concern about the degree/level of the concurrency and the load/unload performance to/from the cloud?

My background is in Netezza, its storage is managed locally and the network can be a VPD. separating from the company's public network as well.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

No it doesn't. I have used both IIAS and WarehouseDB local. These both use the same version of software. The local version I used was on VM.

since the software is the same between Cloud VS IIAS VS WarehouseDB local the concurrency is the same. As long as you use external table load there are no issues with concurrency. If you use the older version of load it will lock the table though. Now there is a issue with locking but it is more on correlated updates (possibly deletes).  Correlated updates lock the table. If you are doing a singleton update you won't see this issue.
