    I need assistance with someone from DB2 licensing to communicate with IBM Passport Advantage Division.

    I have emailed Jon Lind, DB2 Product Offering Manager (Washington, Oregon), and, Kelly Rodger , Senior Development Manager (Toronto), and have not received a response from either.  If anyone from IBM DB2 licensing can reach out to me, I would appreciate it.

    We have been a DB2 customer for 15+ years and every year renew the DB2 support / subscription contract. Contract last renewed on Oct 1, 2019, so we have a valid contract.

    This issue is that when I log into Passport Advantage, I am unable to download / access the Activation / License file  "DB2_WSE_VS_QS_Activation_11.1.zip", for , DB2 11.1 Workgroup Server Edition Virtual Server.  In Passport Advantage, I get the ability to download the Activation / License file for other licensing metrics for 11.1 (PVU, Authorized User), but not for "Virtual Server" licensing metric.

    I have contacted IBM Passport Advantage Support and their response was that we are not entitled to DB2 11.1 Workgroup Server Edition Virtual Server as our DB2 support subscription has expired, for 11.1. However, they state we can only download the activation / license for DB2 11.5 .

    I believe Passport Advantage is misinformed on how the DB2 Support subscription and Entitlement works.

    In June 2019, I had an email conversation with Jon Lind, DB2 Product Offering Manager, where he stated  that when we renewed our DB2 Support subscription (which we did for period starting Oct 1, 2019), we did not have to upgrade to 11.5.  We would still be entitled to use and get support for DB2 10.5 and 11.1, as long as 10.5 and 11.1 were within their respective product support life cycle.

    Can someone at IBM please assist me to download the Activation / License file file  "DB2_WSE_VS_QS_Activation_11.1.zip". to which we are entitled.  We do not have a dedicated IBM Sales Rep.

    Thank you.

    Hello Karl,

    According to the article below, you can retrieve the activation key by part number.
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/db2-version-111-activation-key-part-numbers

    DB2_WSE_VS_QS_Activation_11.1.zip ->
    CNB2AML: IBM® DB2® Workgroup Server Edition-Virtual Server Option-Activation 11.1 for Linux®, UNIX and Windows®

    In my humble opinion "IBM Passport Advantage" should have been called "IBM Passport Challenge" , especially now with Db2's new licensing model / change from PVU to VPC and f.i. customers on Db2 v11.1 wanting / being forced to upgrade to v11.5. Somewhere in between that process, on the Passport portal we also lost our old license  (long time ago purchased and still under valid maintenance contract) for the correct Db2 major version and licensing model. Getting hold of the correct license file in time, and downloading it, can be a challenge ...

    Erwin:

    There may be some customers who want to keep the version they are using, but it doesn't look good to force the upgrade (although it doesn't violate the license policy). License issues are always difficult.. :(
