I totally agree with Roland. DMC is a step
backward not forward from the existing DSM which is out of support as of April 30, 21.
Here are my 2 cents:
1) DMC does not monitor DB2z anymore. There's a new tool ZOWE which seems offering system monitoring more than database monitoring
2) DMC does not have Job Manager
3) DMC does not have Optimize (alas Workload/SQL tuning). With DSM, we have the full suite when the target database is AESE. I read the DMC documentation, it looks like we need to purchase the Extended Insight piece to tune SQLs/workload?
The Db2 Data Management Console & Db2 Data Server Manager Roadmap (AHA) mentions "Query workload tuning for Db2 LUW in Q4 21", no Job Manager in the horizon. By the way, opening the AHA URL in Chrome gave me a black screen!
We still use DSM as it offers almost a full range of administration and monitoring that we need and appreciate. It's too bad that we can't get IBM assistance on this product any more.

Subject: DMC 3.1.5 deprecates monitoring of Db2 for z/OS databases
Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and desire in helping our Db2 for z/OS customers with getting the best user experience. We have recently announced the availability of IBM Db2 Administration Foundation for z/OS – resetting the direction and foundation for Db2 for z/OS administrative tool. This is a Db2 for z/OS product that is built on a modernized architecture model that includes a z/OS server platform, a zero-client install, and a browser-based interface that is built on top of the open source Zowe Virtual Desktop.
We've worked closely with interested customers in various early support programs who provided input on the content of this initial release. The Db2 Administration Foundation product will benefit from continuous delivery of new features and functions and monitoring support is on the roadmap of Db2 Administration Foundation for z/OS. Alternatively, customers can use Omegamon PE for Db2 for z/OS for monitoring support. We hope that our renewed focus in providing tooling for Db2 for z/OS will address the needs of your customers.
If you attended IDUG NA, I recommend downloading and watching the session, "Data Studio and DSM strategic replacement news".

Subject: DMC 3.1.5 deprecates monitoring of Db2 for z/OS databases
Hi,
after long time of persuading, teaching and convincing a customer to finally setup a VM to use DMC for monitoring his databases I found following lines in the What's new section of DMC 3.1.5:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2-data-mgr-console/3.1.x?topic=new-version-315
Deprecated functions
The monitoring dashboard for Db2 for z/OS® connections has been deprecated. The recommended tool for z/OS database administration is IBM Data Server Manager.
Thank you, IBM. :-(
Now back to the old DSM, which probably soon get's deprecated, as we have DMC already and DMC should be better than DSM. This is a perfect business cycle for IBM for year now. What could be wrong. This is a pain which IBM Champions and IBM Gold Consultants suffer for quite a long time and it is pretty tedious to beat the same drum for years, and years, and years...
Kind regards
