Hands-On Lab Updated for 3.1.1

By Peter KOHLMANN posted Tue February 04, 2020 01:10 PM

If you haven't tried the Db2 Console 3.1.1 or the Db2 Console Hands-On Lab you can now try both at once. The Hands-On lab includes a new lesson that takes you through the process of applying a fix-pack to the the Db2 Console. All of the current lessons work with 3.1 or 3.1.1.  So even if you tried the lab before, you can come back and see how simple the upgrade process is before you try it on your own production system.

As before you will get the use of a 16GB, 8 CPU virtual machine with 50GB of disk space. The virtual machine is hosted by IBM and ready for you to start using in a few minutes. All of the examples in the lab are also available through GITHUB and available for your own projects.

There are eight lessons in total in the Hands-On Lab. You can work through them all at once, or come back multiple times. Since each lesson is self-contained, you never have to start from the beginning if you choose to start and stop your learning.

Through the Hands-on Lab, you:

  • Use Jupyter Notebooks to interact with and automate Db2
  • Use Open RESTful interfaces  to interact with Db2 through the console API
  • Use the extensible Db2 Console user interface in your own custom notebooks
  • Access historical performance data collected by the Db2 Console for your own custom analysis
  • Run SQL scripts through the console API across multiple databases to measure and analyze performance
  • Configure the Db2 Console for your whole team through the interface or scripts
  • Setup and manage multiple user security through the interface or scripts
  • NEW: Upgrade the Db2 Console from 3.1 to 3.1.1
