Db2 Client Success update: new encryption requirements for uploading data to IBM Support

We've written previously about how secure protocols are now required for exchanging data with IBM Support, and more changes are coming soon.

The following changes to the anonymous FTP server and the FTPS (FTP over TLS) server encryption settings will take effect on July 27, 2020:

  • Anonymous FTP server usage will be limited to the PDUU and SDDUU upload tools. If you are a client using  PDUU, you are also encouraged to start use the new version that supports the HTTPS protocol. You  should also start using the new FTPS (FTP over TLS) server ftps.ecurep.ibm.com that enforces IBM Support File Transfer ID authentication.
  • We will stop supporting SHA-1 cipher suites on the ECuRep FTPS (FTP over TLS) server. This means that FTP clients using weak Cipher Suites will be unable to connect to the ECuRep FTP server, and you must ensure that current encryption technology is used.

For more information, see ECUREP customer documentation server will discontinue support for TLS SHA-1 ciphers on 7/27/2020.

For general info about sending support information to IBM, see Enhanced Customer Data Repository (ECuRep) - Send data (FTP).
