Access Role description in settings page

  • 1.  Access Role description in settings page

    Posted Tue September 13, 2022 10:57 PM
    Hi there,

I got a problem during practice with Role configuration.
    For example:
Business User: Can view reports available to all users.
Finance: Can view reports available to all users.

But when I assign a specific user to the Business User or Finance role. It cannot access any reports and the page auto redirects to buildStatus page after click to TBM Studio or Cost Transparency.

Other roles having the same problem. That means I can not access or can not view the features as the described on the settings page.

Anyone can help me to clarify the issue that I'm facing?

    Thanks!

Hello. I just changed the Role of one of our users to Business User, impersonated them and I could see the CT reports.
    It works for my installation.

    Hi Guillermo Cuadrado,

    Thanks for you reply.
Is there any specific setting in your CT reports?
Is there any other setting related to user role could be impacted to the access permission?

    Hello again.
We started with the Business User role, but moved to View Only, that allows access to the Interactive Benchmarking module (but not to ITP, which we don't have).

Only a couple of our reports have role-based restrictions: one because it's only meant for administrators, the other, because it might have sensitive information and only Finance people may open it.

To verify what I wrote earlier on, I changed one user to the Business User role only and then impersonated this person:

I could see all reports on our home page.

    P.S.
I did this from the Cost Transparency landing page (not TBM Studio) and in the Production instance.

    Hello,

    Thank you.

I tried to access to a report which has published to production environment. but Access Denied screen showing as below. (When creating a report, I leave all configurations as default - Visible to all users)

I leave the default config in Access Administration page.

The user which used to test
What should I do to show a report to Business User role?

Not sure if you have checked your Roles and Application setting in Access Admin
It could be that visibility is not turned on for the specific Roles and Apps
Included how our CT is setup for roles and Applications

    Thank you,

Firstly, I leave the config as default. That mean it visibility for all users who has permission.
And then I tried to update settings for Cost Transparency - Added Business User to Visibility list.
But in both above cases, I cannot access to the report which promoted to production environment.

Then it's likely permission/visibility at Report Collection level.
Probably want to dig into your report collection and see if the specific reports are only viewable by specific roles

You may also need to check out the specific report and check the visibility and permissions for that report

    Thanks for you support.
    I tried both scenarios:
    1. Set Viewable to everyone
    2. Set Viewable to a particular role.
But it does'nt work.  Access Denied screen appears when I tried to access to the report.

I think your best bet would be opening a support ticket. Then they can look at your system and determine what's wrong.
The image you're showing is for a report collection, not for the report themselves, but the error message seems to indicate something else.
Can your users log on at all?
Do they get to the landing page-typically the Service Costing report?

If you check it out as an Admin, what do the report permissions say?

If it is open to Everyone or they cannot see this landing page, there is a more fundamental problem with your user definition in Frontdoor. This is what the message seems to show, but you say you have double-checked the roles. Thus, a ticket would be best.
