How to manage an unsupported operating system with license entitlement

  • 1.  How to manage an unsupported operating system with license entitlement

    Posted Tue October 08, 2024 08:43 AM

    Hi

I've a customer who is running a legacy application on WebSphere 6.1 on top of RHEL5 within their VMWare environment.

how best should they report there WAS license? can they use disconnected scanning or manual reporting.

Is the best option to port the VM onto a standalone VMWare and count the full core volume  of the physical server?

    Regards

    Ray

    Hi,

WebSphere Application Server V6.1 got EOS in 2013.
Theoretically, Disconnected scanner (if some miracle works on RHEL5) should be able to recognize those old tags as ILMT catalog keep all those old goodies.

Is such solution compliant ?...I highly doubt that.
Using an unsupported platform for audit purposes is always questionable.
You have to contact with compliance/license team to answer that..
