  • 1.  Idea on GL Accounts per Item Type

    Hi Guys,
Is there a way how we can fulfil the requirement in Maximo for maintaining GL Accounts at Item Type.
We are doing integration between Maximo and SAP... In SAP, the GL Accounts will be by Item Type.

We cannot create Storerooms as per Item Type.

Any Idea and Guidance on how we can handle that in Maximo.

    Thanks in Advance

Using commodity codes assists in defaulting the GL account for an item.  The GL is defined in the Resource Codes section of the Chart of Accounts application.

Further to that - to use commodity groups for coding:
    1.  Define which financial codes will be needed to code items (you'll probably need input from Finance here).
    2.  Set up at least one Commodity Group for each financial account code.  This can be done in the Item Master.
    3.  Once Step 2 is completed, go into the Chart of Accounts / Resource Codes and enter the mappings from Commodity Group to financial account code.
    4.  Go back to the Item Master and specify the Commodity Group on each item.
    5.  Add your items to inventory if desired.

Note:. The order of these steps is important.  If you have done Steps 1-4 BEFORE Step 5, then when you do Step 5, the account code will be automatically copied to the GLACCOUNT field in INVCOST table for that item.  From there, it will be used when you issue the item.

If you've already done Step 5 before you perform steps 1-4, then you will need to do a one-time update of the INVCOST table before it will work.

That is the way we have done it.

We also have integration towards SAP.

Craig has given the right answer. I did do a series of articles on the Financial Processes in Inventory for issues and returns it was article number 3. These cover both debit and credit side. The article will show how the whole debit side of the transaction is compiled, also for credit side.  http://maximosecrets.com/2020/05/19/financial-processes-in-inventory-3-of-8/

The diagram which you see is found right at the bottom of the article in the Summary section.
