  • 1.  JDBC driver download

I have seen this sentence in the JDBC documentation previously, and it is still in the latest (14.10) documentation:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSGU8G_14.1.0/com.ibm.jdbc.doc/ids_jdbc_021.htm

"You can obtain the IBM Informix® JDBC Driver from the IBM Informix JDBC Driver product CD, from the JDBC directory of the IBM® Informix product bundle CD, or you can download the driver from www.oracle.com."

Is it really possible to download the Informix JDBC driver from www.oracle.com? I can't find it there, at least.

    Hi!

The easiest way is to download it direct from mvnrepository:

    https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/com.ibm.informix/jdbc/4.50.4.1

Yes, that's what we are doing also, it was just a clumsy way to point out something I think is an error in the documentation

    That's weird.
I compared the contents of the CSDK pdf documentation by version.

'Obtain the JDBC driver' in 11.50.xC7 version document (SC27-3616-00)

'Obtain the JDBC driver' in 11.50.xC8 version document (SC27-3616-01)

I guess it has been updated to oracle.com since version 11.50.xC8.
Of course, it is currently impossible to download Informix jdbc driver from oracle.com.

Interestingly, now if you go to the IBM Trials and Demos site -- the only documented way to download the JDBC driver -- and select the "Java Database Connectivity" option, it takes you not to downloads of JDBC, but to CSDK downloads. Grumble. IBM has really gone out of their way to make their products difficult to access.

Disagree. You used to at least be able to download a full engine bundle, through Passport Advantage, that included CSDK, JDBC Driver, etc. Now it's all split out and different products are accessed via different channels, none of which is PA. PA had its issues, as did its cousin, FixCentral, but at least you could approximately find things.
