SENSDSN Report Displaying Empty DSN Profile for Senstype Catalog

  • 1.  SENSDSN Report Displaying Empty DSN Profile for Senstype Catalog

    Posted Thu January 11, 2024 06:05 PM

    Hello,

Hope this is the correct form for this question.

I ran the SENSDSN report and I am getting a blank entry for a dataset profile with SENSTYPE of Catalog. I am not really sure how to solve this issue. I talked with storage and they couldn't find any cataloged datasets that match.

Here is the CARLa I used to create the report.

    NEWLIST TYPE=SENSDSN,NOPAGE
    SELECT SENSTYPE=*, (SENSTYPE<>ZFS*, SENSTYPE<>HFS*)
    SORTLIST COMPLEX(4,'LPAR') SENSTYPE DSN RACF_PROFILE

    Example Output:

    MXXX Catalog     CATALOG.MXXX.TSO                                  CATALOG.*
    MXXX Catalog     CATALOG.MXXX.TESTU1
    MXXX Catalog     CATALOG.MXXX.TESTU2
    MXXX Catalog     SYS1.VOLCAT.XXXXX                                 SYS1.VOLCAT.X*

    Thank you,

    Joseph

    Hi Joe.

I would expect to see CATALOG.MXXX.TESTU1 referenced in one of the VVDS cells of a volume, due to a cluster that was once cataloged in CATALOG.MXXX.TESTU1.  The catalog was deleted,  but not scrubbed from all the VVDS entries.  See this old IBM-MAIN forum entry.

The entry has no PROFILE identified because there is no actual catalog found anywhere, so zSecure does not want to point to a profile that will not actually be used.
