    Hi All,

what is the best option to view the Optim files (extract, archive, compare files) outside Optim server.
i can copy the XF file to my local, but what is the best option to view those files on local machine or different servers.

Any specific component need to be installed on my local machine ?

    Thanks in Advance.

Open Data Manager (ODM) and Optim Connect are needed to view an archive file or collection via Optim Connect Thin Client (ODBC/JDBC DSN) . Not sure it will work on Extract or Compare files. However, I don't think ODM works without Optim Data Growth on the machine in question where the archive files are stored since you need Optim installed in order to activate ODM. If you copied Optim files to some other machine lacking Optim software, then I don't think they are viewable unless they can somehow get registered back to an Optim installation.

Here's a link to documentation. You may get some other replies as well...

    Hey Keith,
    We don't have ODM.

You think, we need to install entire optim tool, all Optim components?

If you are not going to license ODM, then the only way you can view data in an Optim file is by using the Optim GUI to connect to it and then you may browse the contents. Beyond that, you can always load the file contents to a database or convert to a .csv file (in some cases) and then do whatever you want with the data outside of Optim.

    Thanks Keith for the response.
basically we are trying to view the compare file. our customer liked that distinct colors Optim shows when we open the file compare file. i know we cant see those colors if downliad compare file in CSV format.
