A customer wants to grant users access to dimensions (e.g., departments) without using groups (ClientGroups).
    Is this possible in TM1?

No - but there is nothing stopping them creating a group per user and granting access that way. (There is an odd limitation in the CFG file on the number of groups you can create at one time, but you can increase the limit to get the groups created and then take it down again.)

    Asgeir,

Are they asking to do this because they are looking for a more user friendly way to assign security by person without needing to go into the control cubes or do they want to circumvent Clients and groups completely.  If the answer is they are trying to get around it completely it is not possible and ultimately the groups will be used to define security.

If they are looking for a better way to manage access you can create a security cube that the business user or admin uses to grant access that can populate the ClientGroups cube via TI.  You can have logic to assign the user to the right group and or create a role for every user based on your security needs.
