  • 1.  Cognos 11.2.2 - List View as default view for users

    Hello,
    we are planning to upgrade from CA 11.1.7 to CA 11.2.2. I have a question regarding a option "List View"  which is available to users in new UI. Is it possible to set List View as a default view instead of Tile View for all users?

    Hi Jiri,

    I believe there is no documented features to set list view by default.

    Hello,
    unfortunately no. We have to learned the users that there is a possibility to change the view but we are not able to do that automatically.​​

    Hi Jiri, 

    I asked this question in one of the Ask Me Anything sessions and @RACHEL SU mentioned that the AI feature of Cognos Analytics will take care of that i.e. if the user navigates to list view for the first few times, then for all future logins, the user will be directed to list view itself. I haven't tested it but just wanted to share what I was told.

    Hello Kiran,

    thank you for asking this particular questin. Yes, we know that the setting is kept per each user once they change it.

    However once you have thousands of accounts it is difficult to get this information to all of them and learn them that there is a possibility to change the List view instead of Tile View. It is not a big issue but it can be incovenient for users after the Cognos upgrade.

    Hi Jiri, 

    Understood, we will be in the same boat when we upgrade to 11.2 stream next year. I do not know yet if an extension can help, but I think it is an option to try. We can probably simulate a click action on the list view icon via javascript on screen load.
