  • 1.  Cognos 11.2 Dashboards from Dynamic cubes

    Hi

    We upgraded to Cognos 11.2, and now we get an "Identifier not found" message on all the widgets in the dashboards that was created from Dynamic Cubes.
    Cognos on prem.... 
    Even when trying to create a new dashboard, it gives the same error once a data item from the cube is dragged onto the dashboard.
    The same happens when trying to create an Exploration.

    Normal reporting from the cubes works fine, so the problem just exists when creating/opening a dashboard or Exploration.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Braam,
    I just checked this with our on-prem 11.2 installation: everything worsk well with DC and dashboards.

    Are there any things in your DC model which might casue problems here like multiple languages or security groups?

    Hi Robert

    Thanks for the response! I created a test cube now with just a Date Dimension, and Measures, with no dimensional security, or additional languages specified, and unfortunately still no luck. (I did write a report over the test cube to make sure all is in order.) 
    Interestingly enough, I can open a new/blank dashboard against the cube, and even expand the dimensions and I can see the members within the levels, but I get the above mentioned error, as soon as I drag anything of that onto the canvas.

    Hi Braam,

    my next step would be to look at the xqe-logs and if there's a message right at the same timestamp when you receive the error in dashboards. Otherwise you can also have a look at cogaudit.log and cognosserver.log.

    Or is there anyhing in the error message in dashboards that might give a hint? An error-code or something else? Can you post a picture of the message please?

    If there's nothing which might be helpful: create a ticket at IBM Support.

    The good news is that the dynamic cubes work in reporting, which narrows down the problem space to the interaction of the dynamic cubes and dashboard.


    Perform this experiment. It would help clarify our understanding of the nature of the problem.

    The test hypothesis is that the store ID (that's the very long identifier you see in the URL and in the advanced section of the properties) of the dynamic cube has changed and, when the dashboard tries to find it, it can't.  The relink would replace the existing store ID for the dynamic cube with the new one, which should allow the dashboard to return results.


    1. Open one of the dashboards which is experiencing the problem.
    2. Click on selected sources and click on the more button.
    3. Choose relink
    4. Navigate to the folder where the dynamic cube located.
    5. Choose the dynamic cube and click the use button.




    Can you provide more details about the nature of the upgrade.

    Was this an installation on top of an existing installation?

    What was the version of the original installation?

    Hi, 

    Have you upgraded your extensions to 11.2, most of the 11.1.x extensions needs to be upgraded. If they are not upgraded they will cause errors especially in dashboards.
    After upgrading your extensions, be sure to flush the cache of the browser.

    Hi,
    Are you accessing CA via IIS ? 
    If yes, try to access directly via dispatcher port and if everything works then re-check your IIS configuration , especially regarding request limits (max. URL and query length)
