I am authoring a fairly simple report. But, I am wondering if in the filtering feature I can cascade filters.

What I want to do something like this -

Where STATE = CA (for California)

Show me all Cities within California. What I want to see in resulting dynamic filter is prefiltered for just CA cities.

Or do I have to this via HTML Composer?

It should be possible via creating a Clustered Business View and the use of a "drill level". It works with the sample database Retail Samples. However when I try to create a new Clustered Business View through the portal and open it in InfoAssist, it throws an error. Maybe it is possible to create such synonym via Developer Workbench, or in the latest release of Web Query. Or maybe it is just an issue in my environment. You could give it a try. Look at how the "drill levels" are set up in WF_RETAIL under Dimensions->Product->Product. When I googled for "drill level" and "web query", all I found were release notes for 2.2.1 and all the information in there was related to Workbench. Most of the time I have better luck finding solutions searching for Webfocus and the problem. That is how I found this post - by searching for "webfocus cascading filter". Good luck

This functionality is available in our latest version, 2.3.0. For more information, please see the product manual here. There is a section called "Chaining Filter Control Selections" in the document "Creating Reports Using Db2 Web Query Designer (Part 2)" that explains how to use the functionality.

Ann and Peter are both correct. If you have our ez-install test drive, Chapter 5 shows how to set up dimensions in a business view. It notes that it is for drill downs but it also provides cascading parameters. You should be able to do this via the browser (Dev Workbench is an alternative but I have done it many times via browser interface).
