Mainframe customers are increasingly using WebSphere Liberty, both as a runtime for products such as z/OS Connect, and for applications migrated from WebSphere traditional (tWAS).

Liberty has a simpler architecture than tWAS, and although it can record SMF data it uses a different SMF 120 subtype and captures slightly different metrics. However, the basic requirement to report transaction volumes, response times, and CPU/zIIP times remains the same. “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.”

Join us to learn more about:

  • Liberty architecture
  • How to enable SMF 120.11 recording
  • Reporting transaction rates, response times, and CPU/zIIP times
  • Reporting at various levels: CPC, sysplex, system, server, tran class, URI, user
  • For WLM classified requests, how well they met their goal
  • How to do trending, comparisons, and see changes over time
