Schema evolution is an ongoing initiative aimed at enabling flexible modifications to the structure of existing tables. With the introduction of DROP COLUMN and RENAME COLUMN, alongside the existing ADD COLUMN capability, users can now expand or reduce the column set of a table without impacting the underlying data.
