As enterprises modernize their automation platforms, migrating from IBM Business Automation Workflow 25.0.0 (BAW Case) to IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation (CP4BA) 25.0.0 is a critical step. This session explores two supported migration approaches, each suited to different organizational needs and infrastructure constraints:

  1. Reusing the CPE and ICN Databases – This method involves connecting the new CP4BA environment to the existing Content Platform Engine (CPE) and IBM Content Navigator (ICN) databases. While it offers a streamlined path with minimal data movement, it requires planned downtime to ensure consistency and avoid data conflicts during the switch-over.
  2. Backup and Restore of the Databases – Ideal for creating a fresh CP4BA deployment, this approach involves backing up the existing databases and restoring them in the target environment. It provides more flexibility, especially in scenarios where parallel testing or phased cutover is preferred.

The session will walk through prerequisites, step-by-step procedures, key considerations, and lessons learned. Attendees will gain clarity on choosing the right approach based on business needs, infrastructure readiness, and acceptable downtime windows.
