xedit in Introduction to z/OS Commands and Panels; ===...=== does nothing (much like the goggles)?

At page 4-11  of the first Exercise Guide for Introduction to z/OS Commands and Panels on IBM Z Course code ESU01 ERC 1.3, it says to enter "===...===TOP OF TABLE===...===" and kinda suggests that this will be expanded, with equal signs filling the available space.  This fails to happen.  I have tried both with and without double quotes, and the verbatim text with equal signs and ellipses is inserted in the text.  Google gas-lights me that there is no such operator "..." in xedit.

What am I doing wrong?  I can't find it in the xedit manual either (but I didn't read for too long; it's not small).

    Thanks

    Hello,

I'm here to inform you as a zVM admin that XEDIT is a zVM tool not a zOS tool. You're looking for information on the ISPF editor which can also be invoked from OMVS by calling oedit. I know XEDIT way better than the ISPF editor so it would take some digging to look up the proper methods in ISPF. Hope this helps inform you so you can find the proper documentation and not get stuck trying to run zVM tools on zOS :).
