  • 1.  Workspace maximum column width means text is cropped

    Hi, 

    I have a journal upload view in workspace and there is an accompanying validation sheet. 

    When a user sees a red cell on the validation sheet, they know that the data is invalid.

    There can be several different reasons the cell can be invalid.

    I therefore created a cube which holds these invalid reasons as string element types (obviously). 

    When I come to add a view of these invalid reasons in workspace, I am finding that the maximum column width is too short, and the data is being cut off. I have tried to increase the row size in the hope the text would wrap but to no avail. 

    This seems like a real limitation and in need of fixing?

    Hi Mark,

    Have experienced the same issue too. Even increasing the row size for each affected element still shows the one line of text which is truncated.
    The Word Wrapping options on the dimensions control the Members, not the data so does not help either.
    There is also only so much you can reduce the font by.
    Hover over gives you more text but also gets truncated at a point.

    What is ironic is when you click the pencil to edit, the cell fills quite nicely with the text, just the way you want to see it.

    Needs to be logged as an issue but I have just not got around to it yet.

    Hi Mark,

    We got the same issue here. The user has to select the cell and keep moving the cursor key to see the rest of the content.

    Hopefully the IBM team is monitoring this and can fix it soon.

    Had raised a PMR for exactly this and was told to raise an enhancement.  I see this has been done already (apologies it's an old thread).

    Clicking in, I see Stuart has responded saying it's not something IBM are considering doing (and I appreciate he will know what is required here).  For me, the suggested workaround is not good enough.  I can't tell users they need to hover over something to see comments.  The only way I can think of to work around is by publishing (too slow) or chunking comments into lines using rules or tis as appropriate and hiding the 'line 1, line 2' string measures etc - this does  not work well when capturing comments and is clunky.

    Would be great if IBM could revisit, it feels like a basic for the product.  Would appreciate if you could take the time to vote on this enhancement if you agree.
